3-D Rapid Prototyping Lab

Rapid prototyping R&D lab houses Ultimaker 2 Extended+ 3d printer. Ultimaker 3d has the capability of fast printing speeds, good accuracy (up to 0.06mm layer heights), and compatibility with a variety of different materials. Depending on the level of detail and the desired printing speed the layer heights can be adapted between 0.06mm and 0.25mm. With the help of a special nozzle, layer heights of up to 0.5mm can be achieved. A variety of different materials with different colors and material properties are available at our lab for the usage. The models can achieve high stability, dependant on the direction of the layers. The plastic material is durable enough for further modification after printing such as gluing, drilling, sanding, milling, and painting. To generate a 3d printable model, a watertight CAD model of the volume you wish to print is needed. This model can be created using almost any 3D software. Each object must be exported as an STL file.

Laser Cutting Machine housed in this lab employs a focused, high-powered laser beam to cut the material into custom shapes and designs. This process is suitable for a wide range of materials, including metal, plastic, wood, gemstone, glass, and paper, and can produce precise, intricate, and complex parts without the need for custom-designed tooling. The requirements and specifications demanded by a particular cutting application, materials, and their properties, energy, and power consumption limits, secondary finishing, etc could help determine the type of cutting process most suitable for use. Laser cutting is a non-contact, thermal-based fabrication process suitable for metal and non-metal materials. Researchers and Students are actively utilizing this lab for their Research and academic projects.

Robotics Lab at Raghu Engineering College (A) helps the students to understand the basic principle of robotics and explore the world of industrial robotics with the hands-on experience using FANUC Robot M-10iA 12, 6 Axis Industrial robot, whose reach is 1420mm and Load carrying capacity is of 12kg along with its simulation software and they are also able to design and program the mobile robots with our latest microcontroller trainer kit namely Raspberry pi, Beagle bone, Arduino, ARM processors. Currently, most of the industries are moving to robotics technology where engineers are required to handle those robots. We teach the students to handle and program the robot using RAPID language in both offline and in simulation in this lab.
